DoctorDr. Erika Boland, Ed.D., Licensed Psychologist, joined the practice of Pediatric Psychological Associates in 2026. Dr. Boland provides comprehensive psychological testing and evaluation services with young children experiencing a variety of challenges including developmental delays, early learning difficulties, problems with attention, hyperactivity, anxiety and behavior dysregulation, as well as many other social, emotional and behavioral concerns. Her area of expertise is conducting diagnostic evaluations with children 3 to 5 years of age.

Dr. Boland holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Louisville and has over 27 years of experience providing psychological evaluations with children. She has extensive experience testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, anxiety disorders and a range of other emotional and behavioral conditions. In addition, she has performed numerous evaluations to measure a child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, early indicators of learning differences as well as readiness to enter kindergarten.

Dr. Boland began her career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville, providing developmental evaluations and therapy with children with Autism, through the Weisskopf Child Evaluation Center. She then worked for over 16 years as a contract psychologist for the New Albany-Floyd County Public School System and later with Jefferson County Public Schools, where she provided psychoeducational evaluations for preschool age children. Prior to joining PPA, she was a clinical staff member at Edelson & Associates, gaining valuable training and experience in pediatric neuropsychological evaluations. Dr. Boland has additional specialized training in administering the ADOS-2, which has long been considered the gold standard in testing for Autism.

Working closely with parents to fully understand the scope and nature of their child’s symptoms is a strength and priority for Dr. Boland. In addition, input from teachers and other professionals is highly valued. Following a comprehensive evaluation, an individualized plan of care based on each child’s unique needs is developed. Dr. Boland values taking time with parents to explain test results and provides guidance on how to best help their child. Dr. Boland’s background in the public school system has allowed her to develop a wealth of knowledge in helping parents navigate school-related issues such as the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP’s), 504 accommodation plans and ways to best advocate for children.

Dr. Boland is passionate about working with young children because of her firm belief that through early detection and intervention, positive growth and development can be achieved. She also strongly believes in the importance of identifying young children’s strengths and weaknesses, without which, they can be misunderstood and inaccurately labeled.
