Dr. Katie James, Psy.D.

DoctorDr. Katie James joined Pediatric Psychological Associates in 2021 as a post-doctoral fellow and previously worked with the practice in 2019 as an advanced practicum student. She comes to us with a wide range of clinical experience working with children and adolescents who present a variety of concerns as well as representing a variety of backgrounds from across the community. She particularly enjoys working with individuals experiencing anxiety, OCD, social skills difficulties, grief and loss, and neurodevelopmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, Dr. James greatly enjoys psychological testing and has considerable experience and expertise in assessing for intellectual disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning difficulties.

Dr. James received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2006 and later earned a Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology through the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2012. Most recently, following the completion of her pre-doctoral internship with the Jefferson County Internship Consortium in Louisville, KY, Dr. James received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University in 2021.

Prior to joining the practice, Dr. James provided individual, group, and family therapy interventions for children and adolescents in a number of settings including private practice, residential settings, community mental health, as well as providing home and school-based services. During graduate school Dr. James completed practica with Hosparus Grief Counseling Center, University of Louisville Autism Center, Homeplace Support Services, Bellewood/Brooklawn residential services, and Pediatric Psychological Associates. She also worked for Seven Counties Services for many years providing both therapy and psychological testing services.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. James serves an Adjunct Professor of Psychology for Pepperdine University and Bellarmine University.
